Black cumin is an ANNUAL flowering plant that grows to 40cm with finely divided feathery leaves and attractive flowers which are pollinated by bees. Distinct inflated capsules contain numerous seeds which are used as a spice and medicine.
Seeds are eaten raw or cooked and flavours breads, cakes, curries, and pickles. Pungent flavour with a spicy fruity taste.
It has many medicinal uses and is beneficial in particular to the digestive system, and bronchial complaints. It is insect repelling.
