Capsicums are frost and cold tender EVERGREEN PERENNIAL that is often grown as an annual, reaching a height of 1m. Prefers growing in a moist well-drained soil in full sun. White flowers are followed by elongated fruits that grow up to 15cm long and are normally used green. Anaheim pepper is a mild (0-70,000 SHU) and is also known as California chile, or Magdalena, and dried as chile seco del norte.
Used fresh as a condiment or roasted, dried, or canned. Peppers are often used fresh in salads, or cooked into pasta sauces, marinades, made into hot sauces etc. They are very high in vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals making them highly nutritive. It is mostly the very pungent cayenne peppers that are used medicinally.
