Capsicums are a frost and cold tender EVERGREEN PERENNIAL that is often grown as an annual, reaching a height of 1m. Prefers growing in a moist well-drained soil in full sun. In Banana Peppers, the white flowers are followed by elongated fruits that grow up to 8cm long and ripen to bright yellow. Banana pepper is very mild (0-500 SHU).
Used fresh as a condiment or roasted, dried, or canned. Peppers are often used fresh in salads, or cooked into pasta sauces, marinades, made into hot sauces etc. They are very high in vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals making them highly nutritive. It is mostly the very pungent cayenne peppers that are used medicinally.
