Gayfeather – white (Liatris alba)


Blazing star is a PERENNIAL growing to 60cm with tall flowering spikes resembling bottle-brushes.
Prefers moist or wet, well-drained soil in full sun or semi-shade.
Medicinally the leaves and roots are used.

This is a white-flowering variety.
It is anodyne, antibacterial, astringent, carminative, expectorant, stimulant and tonic.
Said to be efficacious when used as a local application in the treatment of sore throats and gonorrhoea.
Aromatic leaves and roots are used in pot-pourri and insect-repellants.
