Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) is a perennial in the Asteraceae family. It prefers full sun, free-draining sandy or loamy soils, and is hardy in NZ. It grows to 15–30 cm tall and spreads up to 30 cm, with finely divided green leaves and small, sweetly scented daisy-like flowers. Mainly used as a medicinal herb (gentle calming tea and digestive aid), as a cottage garden plant (fragrant groundcover), and as a lawn or path edging plant (soft, low, and aromatic underfoot).
