A flowering PERENNIAL growing to 1m. Prefers well-drained soil, and can grow in very alkaline and saline soils. Grows best in full sun. Flowers are edible and can be used fresh or candied. Medicinally, the flowers have been used in
tonic cordials although not often used as a medicine these days.
Strongly clove scented, the flower petals are candied, used as a garnish in salads, for flavouring fruit, fruit salads, drinks etc.
