Basil – Cinnamon


Cinnamon basil is a PERENNIAL, but often grown as an ANNUAL. It has a spicy cinnamon-scented fragrance. Leaves are slightly serrated and dark green with reddish-purple veins and dark purple stems and pinkish flowers. Growing to almost 80cm tall, it prefers a full sun position in moist, but well-draining soil.

Cinnamon basil can be used fresh in teas and in baked goods, and where a cinnamon hint is required in salads, vinegars etc. It can be dried and added to pot pourri and grown to repel insects such as flies and white flies. Basils are commonly planted as companions to tomatoes.
