Mint – Common /Garden mint

A hardy PERENNIAL growing to 60cm with bright green ovate leaves. Can grow in almost any soil, tolerates heavy clay soil. It preferes moist soil in a full sun or semi-shade position.
Flavourful mint leaves can be eaten raw or cooked; and it is commonly used as a domestic herbal remedy.

Description

The leaves can be eaten raw in salads, or cooked in foods, and has a strong mint flavour. Also made into mint sauces and mint jelly and is a good garnish, or can be brewed into a herbal tea.
The plant is made into a tea for headaches, fevers, and digestive complaints. Leaves and stems can be made into a poultice for bruises.
It can be used as a strewing herb, and is used to repel rats and mice who dislike the plant.
