Strawberry Spinach

Strawberry Spinach is an ANNUAL growing to 60cm with goosefoot-like leaves, and small, red and pulpy.
It prefers moist soil in full sun.
The fruit, leaves and seeds are edible. It has some medicinal uses.
Leaves can be eaten raw or cooked like spinach. Eat only in small quantities. The fruit has a sweet flavour and can be added to salads.
Red food coloring can be obtained from teh fruit.
It has been used to treat black eyes and head bruises and lung congestion.
It is a dye plant.
