MeadowSweet Herbs & Flowers Nursery and Herb Education Centre is now closed for orders from 16 December 2025 until mid-January 2026 while I take a short festive break.

Thank you for your continued support of my small, home-based nursery throughout the past year. I look forward to helping you grow plants for your kitchen, garden, and herbal home remedies cupboard when I reopen in the new year.

Wishing you a peaceful and nourishing festive season.

Achillea – Yarrow Terracotta

$9.00

Achillea millefolium ‘Terracotta’ is a perennial in the daisy (Asteraceae) family that grows to 45–60 cm tall and 40–60 cm wide. It prefers full sun and well-drained soils. It has feathery aromatic foliage with flowers in terracotta fading to yellow. ‘Terracotta’ is used as a cottage garden and pollinator plant, and its flowers are excellent for fresh or dried arrangements. Hardy in most NZ climates.

Description

Achillea millefolium ‘Terracotta’ is a delightful yarrow cultivar selected for its flower colour that starts off a strong terracotta colour and fading to light yellow above feathery, aromatic foliage. Flowering prolifically through summer, it grows 45–60 cm tall, forming neat clumps well-suited to perennial borders, meadow-style plantings, and pollinator gardens. Like other yarrows, it tolerates poor soil and dry conditions once established, and is highly attractive to bees, hoverflies, and butterflies. While bred primarily as an ornamental, it still shares the medicinal lineage of yarrow, though the mixed cultivar makes it less reliable as a strong apothecary herb compared with the wild species.
