Lavender – French (Lavandula dentata)

An EVERGREEN SHRUB growing to 1m with aromatic toothed silver-green to green foliage and spikes of lavender-purple flowers. Flowers heads are generally fatter than English lavender, but not as showy as Spanish lavender. Noted for attracting wildlife, especially bees. It grows in most soils, preferring a well-drained soil in full sun. Can grow in alkaline and saline soils.
Leaves, petals and flowering tips are eaten, and medicinally it is a useful household remedy.
