Ajuga reptans (Species/Common Bugleweed) is a vigorous evergreen groundcover 5–10 cm high, spreading widely. Best in part shade to sun. Features dark green to purple foliage and dense spikes of violet-blue flowers in spring. An excellent groundcover, pollinator attractant, and soil stabiliser.

Leaves and young shoots are edible raw and it has some history as a wound herb, but is rarely used today.
