Balm – Lime Balm

Lime Balm (Melissa officinalis ssp altissima) is a perennial in the Lamiaceae family that grows in full sun to part shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil. It is used as a Culinary Herb for teas and flavouring, as a Medicinal Herb for relaxation and digestive support, and as a Pollinator Plant.
Lime Balm (Melissa officinalis ssp altissima) is a vigorous perennial herb in the Lamiaceae family with a tall, upright habit and large aromatic leaves. Its scent is a sharp, zesty lime note, slightly more intense than traditional lemon balm, and it produces pale yellow flowers that attract bees. Lime Balm grows well in full sun to part shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil. Hardy in New Zealand climates, it can be harvested throughout the season and used similarly to other balms. Lime Balm is valued as a Culinary Herb for teas, infusions, and flavouring dishes, a Medicinal Herb for relaxing and digestive remedies, and as a Pollinator Plant.
