The physical nursery and gates sales table plant stand is also closed over winter and will be up and running in spring 2025 for the 2025/26 growing season.

Cape Gooseberry

Cape gooseberry is a frost tender PERENNIAL growing to 1.2m that grows in semi shade or full sun in moist soil. Fruit are used raw, or cooked in jams, pies, compotes etc.
With a sweet-sour flavour, the berries are a favourite fresh fruit, while dried fruits can be used as a raisin substitute. Do not eat the calyx (paper husk) around the fruit. Berries are rich in vitamins and minerals and leaf juice has been used medicinally, but is not a common domestic medicinal herb.
