Description

German Chamomile is a delicate, airy annual herb with feathery foliage and small daisy-like flowers, native to Europe and Western Asia. It thrives in sunny positions with well-drained soils, tolerating poor soils better than heavy clay. The plant flowers prolifically through summer, and the blooms are harvested for herbal teas, infusions, and topical preparations. Medicinally, it is valued for its calming, anti-inflammatory, and digestive properties, supporting restful sleep and soothing stomach discomfort. In the garden, it makes a soft, meadow-like display and attracts bees, hoverflies, and other beneficial insects. German Chamomile self-seeds readily, ensuring ongoing presence in naturalised or cottage-style gardens.
