A frost and cold tender EVERGREEN PERENNIAL that is often grown as an annual, reaching up to 1m. These distinctive plants have mild vividly striped fruits (5,000 – 30,000 SHU) and beautifully variegated foliage. Prefers growing in a moist well-drained soil in full sun. Flowers, fruit and leaves are edible, although it is mostly cultivated for its fruit which is eaten raw or cooked.

Used fresh as a condiment or roasted, dried, or canned. Peppers are often used fresh in salads, or cooked into pasta sauces, marinades, made into hot sauces etc. They are very high in vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals making them highly nutritive. It is mostly the very pungent cayenne peppers that are used medicinally.
