Capsicums are a frost and cold tender EVERGREEN PERENNIAL that is often grown as an annual, reaching a height of 1m. Prefers growing in a moist well-drained soil in full sun. Trinindad Moruga Scorpion peppers have white flowers that are followed by round and somewhat tapering fruit pods that are incredibly hot – a mean heat of 1.2 million Scoville heat units (SHUs). It is one of the hottest peppers on record.
Used fresh as a condiment or roasted, dried, or canned. Peppers are often used fresh in salads, or cooked into pasta sauces, marinades, made into hot sauces etc. They are very high in vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals making them highly nutritive. It is mostly the very pungent cayenne peppers that are used medicinally.
