Echinacea – Mellow Yellow Mix

$9.50

Echinacea purpurea ‘Mellow Yellow’ is a perennial in the daisy (Asteraceae) family that grows to around 60–90 cm tall and 45–60 cm wide. It prefers full sun and moist but well-drained soils. It has soft golden to lemon-yellow petals around coppery cones, creating warm tones in the garden. ‘Mellow Yellows’ attract pollinators, and are prized in cottage and cut flower gardens. Hardy in most NZ climates.

All Echinacea species and cultivars can be used medicinally, though angustifolia, pallida, and purpurea are most traditionally valued for their potency. Mellow Yellows can be used, but are less commonly chosen in professional practice.

Description

‘Mellow Yellow Hybrids’ bring a soft, cheerful variation to Echinacea purpurea, with blooms in shades of creamy lemon to warm buttery yellow. Flowers stand tall above clumping foliage, creating a sunny highlight in borders and pollinator beds. Plants are hardy, drought-tolerant once established, and long-flowering. The unique colour range makes this cultivar popular for contemporary and cottage-style plantings alike.
