A HERBACEOUS PERENNIAL Lady’s Bedstraw is a low scrambling plant. Leaves are borne in whorls of 8–12 and the flowers are yellow produced in dense clusters.

Description

Dried plants smell strongly of sweet hay and were used to stuff mattresses and flea repellent. Flowers were used to coagulate milk in cheese manufacture and is used in Gloucester to colour the cheese named ‘Double Gloucester’. Red madder-like and yellow dyes. Was used to infuse spirits in Denmark making the uniquely Danish drink bjæsk [da].
