Savory – Lemon

This EVERGREEN SHRUB grows to 30cm and has upright growing stems with thyme like leaves with a highly aromatic lemon scent.
Prefers full sun in a well-drained soil and can grow in nutritionally poor soil or very alkaline soil. It is drought-tolerant.
The leaves are used as a condiment either fresh or dried, raw or cooked. With a slight lemon peppery flavour, they are stronger in flavour than summer savory. Mostly used in cooked foods, especially well paired with beans.
Similar medicinal actions to summer savory – being a good digestive herb, antiseptic, aromatic, carminative, and mildly expectorant and stomachic. It relieves wasp stings.
The growing plant repels insects.
