Description
Young leaves or seedlings have a cinnamon and spicy aromatic fragrance and are added to salads. Leaves can also be dried for later use. Flowers are edible while salt-preserved seeds are used as a condiment.
The plant is often used in Oriental medicine. The pungent, aromatic herb is warming and antibacterial. It may be used in the treatment of colds and chest complaints and the leaves are applied to cuts and wounds.
