Tarragon – French
$8.00
A DECIDUOUS PERENNIAL growing to 60cm with slender branched stems and glossy green lanceolate leaves.
Prefers well-drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Can tolerate drought.
Leaves are used as a culinary flavouring. The plant has medicinal and household uses.
Aromatic leaves have a very nice flavour and can be eaten raw or used as a flavouring in cooked foods such as stews, soups etc
Often paired with oily foods, or to flavour vinegar, it is indispensible in the French kitchen.
Historically used as a bitter and aromatic warming herb, Tarragon stimulates the digestive system, lowers fevers and can be used to eliminate intenstinal worms.
Both the growing and dried herb repels unwanted insects.
