Valerian is a DECIDUOUS PERENNIAL growing to 1.5m with heads of sweetly scented pink or white flowers. Prefers well-drained moist soil in full sun.
It is a well-known medicinal plant.
Valerian is a frequently used medicinal herb with a proven efficacy.
It is sedative, tranquillising, and a nervine, particularly suited for those suffering from nervous tension, strain, sleeplessness, stress etc.
It is also a great addition to the compost heap and attracts earthworms, makes a good liquid plant food as the leaves are rich in phosphoros and is insect repellent.
The scent of roots attract cats and rats.
