Chilli – Dorset naga

A frost and cold tender EVERGREEN PERENNIAL that is often grown as an annual, reaching over 1.2m. This hybrid between Capsicum chinense and Capsicum frutescens produces subconical to conical fruit that are 6-8cm and 3cm wide and has a thin skin. Intensely hot, and rated amongh the hottest peppers in the world, fruit consistently rate over 1,000,000 SHU.
Prefers growing in a moist well-drained soil in full sun. Flowers, fruit and leaves are edible, although it is mostly cultivated for its fruit which is eaten raw or cooked.
Used fresh as a condiment or roasted, dried, or canned. Peppers are often used fresh in salads, or cooked into pasta sauces, marinades, made into hot sauces etc. They are very high in vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals making them highly nutritive. It is mostly the very pungent cayenne peppers that are used medicinally.
