Summer Savory is an ANNUAL growing to 30cm with slender upright stems with bronze-green leaves and lilac tubular flowers. Prefers full sun position and well-drained soil. It is drought tolerant and can grow in very alkaline soils.
Leaves are used as a condiment either fresh or cooked, and it has medicinal uses.

Description

Leaves are aromatic and have slightly peppery flavour and can be used fresh as garnish or sparingly in salads, although it is mainly used in cooked foods such as stews and soups, particularly well suited to beans.
Savory is good as a digestive aid. Other health benefits include it being antiseptic, aromatic, carminative, digestive, expectorant and stomachic. It works well to relieve wasp stings. It is a good companion plant to beans, repelling insect pests.
