Caraway Thyme is an EVERGREEN SHRUB growing to 10cm with very aromatic small lanceolate leaves on prostrate branches.
Prefers well-drained soil in full sun and can tolerate drought.
With caraway-seed scented leaves, it is an excellent flavouring herb. As with all thymes, there are medicinal uses for the plant.
Thyme is an EVERGREEN SHRUB growing to 20cm with slender stems and small green aromatic leaves.
Prefers well-drained soil in full sun, and can grow in nutritionally poor soil.
Leaves are used fresh or dried as a condiment and tea, and it has many proven medicinal actions.
An EVERGREEN PERENNIAL creeping thyme, ‘Annie Hall’ forms mat with small, narrow leaves. Flowers are pale purple-pink in late spring. Can withstand dry areas. Ground cover thyme suitable for in between paving stones or small lawn areas.
An EVERGREEN PERENNIAL creeping thyme, ‘Bertram Anderson’ is a creeping thyme with bright light green leaves in spring turning golden in summer. Light lemon fragrance. Drought tolerant once established. Attractive to butterflies. Evergreen.
The leaves of this creeping EVERGREEN SHRUB are smaller and narrower and it grows low on the ground with white flowers. Same cultivation requirements as Common Thyme.
The Golden Thyme is an EVERGREEN PERENNNIAL and has light golden-green leaves and grows to 10cm. It has light pink flowers. Same cultivation requirements as Common Thyme
Silver Posie thyme is an EVERGREEN PERENNIAL SHRUB with white-silver margined green leaves with characteristic thyme scent. Grow and use as Common Thyme.
Toothache plant is an ANNUAL small, erect plant that bears gold or red-and-gold inflorescences. It prefers well-drained soil in a warm, full-sun position.
Leaves can be used in small amounts and the flower bud eaten is a novelty – having a grassy taste followed by a tingling and numbing sensation.
It has traditional medicinal uses.
